self-help techniques for stress
These two stress reducing techniques are very simple, quick to do and can be used anywhere by anyone.
The balancing thymus tap can be used as frequently as desired and is usually sufficient to balance the energies of any body. It is particularly beneficial if you find yourself feeling 'fuzzy-headed'.
Tap on the chest in an anti-clockwise circle.
The circle is about 3 inches (7.5 cm) in diameter, with its centre about 2-3 inches (5-7cm) below the sternal notch, over the thymus gland.
Tapping for 30 seconds is usually sufficient.
The emotional stress release technique is always used after doing the thymus tap and can be used for any stresses, whether they are from the past, present or for the future.
You need to hold five points:
1 and 2 - You start by placing your thumbs at the corner of your eyes and move them gently back to the hairline.
3 and 4- Then you place two fingers (one from each hand, often the ring fingers are easier) on the bumps on your forehead.
5 - Finally rest one finger on top of your head where your soft spot would have been as a baby.
Remember to hold these points gently; we are not looking for bruises.
As the points are being held think about the issue that has or is causing you stress in as much detail as possible. The more vivid the memory, the more effective this technique is.
Recall, people, places, sounds, colours and even smells if they are relevant.
Continue holding the points until the stress has diminished or disappeared altogether.
It can sometimes be useful to rate the stress on a scale of 1-10; 1 being the event has no affect on you what so ever and 10 being you are about to explode. After a few minutes of holding the emotional stress release points, re-rate where you are on the scale. Sometimes you may have only moved down the scale a few points, but sometimes that all you need to be able to continue calmly, other times you will need to hold the points for a longer time.
