According to the National Headache Foundation "All migraine headaches are characterized by severe pain, and in many cases, nausea, vomiting, tremor, cold hands, sensitivity to light (photosensitivity) and sound (phonosensitivity)." All migraines are one sided and the pain is throbbing or pulsating in nature. The pain can be moderate to severe and can last an hour or days, weeks and in extreme cases over a month.
What you can do?
The first stage of trying to understand your headache or migraine is to keep a diary to try to identify your trigger. You may find that a pattern emerges, and by making a few minor changes to your diet and / or lifestyle, you can reduce the severity and / or frequency of your attacks. You could also have a food allergy test, as this is a quick way of identifying any allergens that may be causing the migraines, typical food allergies include dairy, chocolate, coffee and wheat.
Avoid triggers to which you know you are sensitive,
Avoid sugary snacks,
Avoid, or at least limit your caffeine intake,
Drink plenty of water - 2 litres a day,
Maintain a regular sleep pattern,
Take regular exercise,
Get plenty of fresh air and practise deep breathing,
Ensure that ventilation indoors is good and try to keep rooms at a constant temperature,
Avoid strong perfumes etc,
If you spend time at a computer monitor take regular breaks,
Learn relaxation techniques.
Is your body trying to tell you something?
Migraines and headaches can be linked to your expectations not being met or from a fear of failure. Ask yourself: Are there any feelings that you are trying to repress? Have you a tendency to be a perfectionist? Do you have high expectations and anticipation? Do you fear being unable to do everything that is asked of you? Do you fear being or being asked to be part of something? Are you crying out to be loved and cared for?

Health Kinesiology
Health Kinesiology (HK) is a holistic system of natural health care which uses muscle testing to communicate directly with the body’s own inner wisdom. Through the use of focussed questioning, the HK practitioner can identify the triggers that cause the migraine and by a series of gentle yet powerful energy-balancing techniques can boost the body’s resistance to these triggers.
The number of treatments required will vary from person to person. The HK practitioner will be able to prioritise the work needed and determine the length of time to wait between each treatment. This allows the body time to process the energy corrections at its own pace, to avoid placing any extra strain on the body.
