What are Allergies?

1 in 3 Britons suffer from an allergy

Allergic reactions are symptoms that a person's body has when it is working to rid itself of a perceived invader. Coughing, sneezing, congestion, rashes, swelling, and itching are common symptoms of an allergic reaction.


What you can do?


It is best to find out what it is that are allergic to, you can do this by having an allergy test. You can also try to minimise contact with the following common allergens:

Minimise airborne triggers.
House dust, house dust mites, moulds, pollen, and animal hair are all known to cause allergies.
To minimise the accumulation of mites, pollen and pet hair and to calm allergies, try the following:
  • Keep the bedroom temperature cool,
  • Keep your house as dust free as much as possible,
  • Fluffy toys need to be washed and shaken outdoors regularly,
  • Minimise carpets,
  • Wash bedding frequently.
Eliminate common food triggers.
Foods are known as a common trigger of allergies, the highest reactions are to the following foods:
  • Milk
  • Eggs
  • Wheat
  • Peanuts
  • Soybeans
  • Oranges
  • Seafood
Reduce daily chemical exposure.
Contact with soaps, detergents, shampoos, conditioners, perfume, shaving creams as well as make up should be kept to a minimum.
Perfume free cosmetics are advised and trial applications of cosmetics to small areas of your skin are recommended.
Bubble baths should not be used, due to their high chemical content.


Is your body trying to tell you something?


Allergies are when the immune system over-reacts too strongly to an external stimulus. It is as if the external world has become an enemy, something to be feared or resisted. We refuse to allow anything in, but are also unable to let anything out.
Ask yourself;
Are you over-reacting to an emotional situation?
Is there a desire to be rid of something or someone who is causing a strongly irritated reaction?
What are you actually feeling allergic towards?
Is it more socially acceptable to have an allergy than it is to scream or hit out?
What are you unwilling to communicate?
What feelings have you pushed down inside?
Food Allergies
Do you feel special as you can only eat in certain places?
Are you hiding a need for attention and love?
Is it a reason not to participate?
In rejecting certain foods, are you actually rejecting parts of yourself?
Is it easier to blame the food than to look at your own behaviour?

Health Kinesiology

In Health Kinesiology (HK) we believe that our bodies are a complex mass of energies - in our cells, organs, and in our paths of energy called ‘meridians’. Everything around us has its own unique pattern of energy with which ours interacts. If we are allergic to a substance it is because our body does not recognise its energy pattern, so the energy flow in our body becomes disturbed and unbalanced, and so it react inappropriately (rashes, sneezing, poor digestion etc).

We may be allergic to any substance. The most likely are foods such as wheat and dairy products (often it is something that we love or crave for), chemicals around the home or work place, and airborne substances such as pollen.

Health Kinesiology has a very quick but efficient way of not only testing for allergies but also for correcting them.

After the HK work is completed, with some allergies you may be allowed to eat or be in contact with the substance straight away; if not you will be advised how long you need to avoid it. This is usually to allow the body time to detoxify and strengthen itself.

If work has been done on an intolerance, the amount you can eat or be in contact with will have increased and you will be advised how much your body can tolerate at any one time. Tolerance levels rise and fall according to how efficiently the immune system is working, so if you are under attack from a virus or some extra stress, your tolerance levels may dip temporarily.

Health Kinesiology is very gentle and can be used on all age groups, from children to the elderly.
